There is a buyer asking my end seller to provide a DND number. From this number the buyer said he can find out the seller's track sales record. Then, only he will proceed with the deal.Anyone please advice what is DND number? Is it right to provide this number to buyer? Thanks in advance.

I too am unaware of the DND number unless your buyer is looking for a DNB or DUNS number.  Dunn & Bradstreet is a company that offers many services for international companies.  If a company has a DUNS number you will be able to verify the companies address, financial standing, (creditworthines), and the officers of the company.  If the business is not registered within their country or in the case of the US their own state they cannot recieve a DUNS number.  If this is the information you were seeking you can find out more at their website. http://www.dnb.com    I hope this helps you!Best regardsRanger

Replying to [Ranger]:Yes. The D&B,DUNS number is what they want. However, the seller will give the number if only he received the LOI + BCL from buyer.Because the seller don't know the buyer and the buyer want to see the track record from seller first.Since D&B can provide the service to the client who want to check on other company's record, do the buyer really need the DUNS number from seller first or they can go to D&B and buy the report by just giving the seller's company name? Please advice.Hope this will clear their worry and proceed with the negotiation.

D&B is shortcut to Dun and Bradstreet this is a system that can check by number your sellers previous sells and see that it is a genuin seller and not fraud. Not everyone have D&B number and u dont need to , but if u want extra confidence then u wll apply for it.Be aware, if u give this number to your buyer he will be more relax but, he can find the seller details and contact him directly.

Replying to [kcf2u]:Basically, it is what was said to you. The only thing i never heard of DND maybe DNB(Dunns Number) to show trade references and the track record for importing and exporting of merchandise he had in past for purchases and good deals with no problems. Some buyers just will like to know whom they are dealing with and if they are legit and can be able to hold up to what they have for business dealiings.

Replying to [Gilad]: (reply to all postings really)I have never bought from a manufacturer overseas before. I am trying to do my due diligence. I am even flying to China for 3 weeks and meet with 5 different manufacturers, 7 inspection companies that provide outsourced CE/Rohs testing/verification . Probably through SGS or Intertek. My plan is to find the right manufcturer (best price service etc..)have the company audited by a third party company. not very familliar with what kind of service to look for here?Once this has happened I plan to give a 20% deposit?? (how TT) and the remainder via irrevocable L/CHave the shipment randomly scrutinized with photos sent real time accompanied with a report etc.. followed by container loading supervision..The front running company right now in my negociations (BTW all of the companies are aware of the fact that I am in negotiations with their competitors, not to lead them on, aswell as understand that they must price competitively) anyhow... the front running company is not listed when doing a search onhttp://www.dnb.com/us/Is not being registered on the "dnb.com" site Bad?, does it mean that the company may not be trustworthy? Also if I may step outside the thread perimeters for just a bitDoes everyone here agree with my techniques regarding this transaction?Considering that I have no shipping connections....CIF C&F or FOB ???Thank you
